Our group spent a long a time on deciding a song to use. We
looked at so many different ones we just decided to pick whichever was good
enough to fit the story. I personally do not like the song we chose, but that’s
just my opinion. I think that the song fits the story, but not the genre we
chose because we were going to pick a classic rock song, but we could not
decide on what we wanted to do.
We went on your YouTube for a while and we kind of got an
idea on what we wanted to do story wise, but it was difficult to find ideas so
we came with the basic idea of someone breaking up. I thought this would be
difficult because of the story and our genre of classic rock don’t exactly go
well. I say this because classic rock is groups of people dancing and being rebellious
to society. I think are ideas were not exactly creative, but it gets the job
done.
The conventions of our music video are quite stereo typical
because we use lots of well used thing like the weather being dull and grey to
represent sadness and the main actor (Aaron) looking sad. I believe that we do
not really have many conventions within the video just because it’s kind of the
same thing throughout besides the fact we use a time lapse to symbolise time
passing. I think it’s a shame that we could not vary the video much, but we
could not find much inspiration so we kind of winged it with the conventions
because they would take too long to come up with so we just used the basic
stereotypical stuff. I do believe we met the ones we used because we somewhat
tried to.
Research helped a little because, but was not extremely helpful because we struggled to come up with an idea on what song we should use even after about an hour looking at various songs we went with a newer song called fallout which fits the story, but not the genre. I feel like we did do enough research, but it was not really effective research because we spent most of our research time looking for songs and not for ideas which is the reason we came up with a simple idea.
